The Beggs diamond squad began the week with a trip to Eufaula, falling to the host Lady Ironheads by a 13-1 margin. The Lady Demons were unable to avoid the district sweep at home on Tuesday, coming up on the short end of a 16-0 outcome to Eufaula.
The Beggs ladies will return to action Monday and Tuesday in their final district contests with a county showdown with the Henryetta Lady Knights. The county meeting will get underway Monday at Beggs and will conclude in Henryetta on Tuesday.
The district battle with Henryetta will be the final two games of the regular season for the Lady Demons, as they have been eliminated from postseason play with their 0-10 district record.
In Monday’s battle with Eufaula, the Beggs squad tallied its lone run in the top of the third.
Eufaula began the scoring with seven runs in the home half of the first, then pushed across six runs in the bottom of the third to put the finishing touches on the 13-1 outcome.
The Lady Demons were limited to just two hits in the contest - singles by Angel Aylor and Morgan Busby. The only other Beggs baserunners in Monday’s road game were Cali Carter (walk) and Joely Speer (error).
In Tuesday’s home meeting with the Lady Ironheads, the Beggs squad was held to two hits - singles by Joely Speer and Katy Gaskins. Cali Carter (error) and Chloe Cooper (walk) were the only other Lady Demon hitters to reach base in the contest.
Eufaula opened Tuesday’s scoring with nine runs in the top of the first then added seven in the third for the 16-0 decision.
