The Okmulgee Lady Bulldog fastpitch softball team saw their dreams of a postseason appearance in 2021 fade away with a pair of double-digit losses to the Holdenville Lady Wolverines earlier this week.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped the opening meeting with Holdenville by a 14-1 margin Monday evening in Okmulgee then suffered an 11-1 defeat to the Lady Wolverines Tuesday in Holdenville.
The losses to Holdenville puts the Okmulgee diamond squad at 2-8 in District 3A-7 play with two district games remaining - next Tuesday at home against the Morris Lady Eagles.
Results of Tuesday’s road game at Holdenville were not available at presstime.
In Monday’s district battle in Okmulgee, the Lady Bulldogs tallied their lone run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Mariya Tecumseh.
Holdenville broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the top of the third, then added seven in the fourth, one in the fifth, and four in the sixth for the 13- run decision.
Tecumseh led the Okmulgee offense in Monday’s loss, finishing 2 for 2 at the plate, adding a double and a walk to her fifth-inning RBI single.
The other two base hits for Okmulgee on Monday came on singles by Tot Harris and Cyann Powell.
Other Lady Bulldog hitters to reach base in Monday’s contest were Jade Whinery (fielder’s choice, hit by pitch) and Gabbi Garcia (hit by pitch).
