Tuesday’s Okmulgee Lions Club meeting was more of a historical lesson of one man’s passion, but could almost chronicle the “taming of the West,” or maybe more appropriately, “claiming of the West”, almost in our own backyard. And this man was none other than John Monroe Davis of the J.M. Davis Gun Museum, located in Claremore. The more accurate name now is the Davis Arms and Historical Museum, which boasts as the world’s largest private collection of firearms.
