28th Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
God’s Wisdom
The readings this Sunday Mass emphasized the Wisdom, not human wisdom but divine wisdom only God can give us if we know how to balance our physical, material and spiritual lives.
Wisdom leads us to ask the key question of life, and the rich young man asked Jesus: “What must I do to share in everlasting life?” In answer, Jesus pointed two ways, the way of keeping the commandments in ordinary life, and the way of Evangelical Counsels. True wisdom is a very special insight in how to live; it is a philosophy of life that enables a person to discern life’s deep meaning, and most important of all, the ultimate goal of life in the world to come.
The young man in the gospel is good and upright in every way. He had observed the commandments of God meticulously. But apparently he is not happy, and surely he is not satisfied with his life. Something is missing, and he asks Jesus what it is.
The key word in Jesus’s statement is “Possession.” It has many meanings, the most common being wealth, properties, buildings, cars etc.; but the word has a wider meaning, one which can apply to such things as food, alcohol, medicines ... Jesus knows each of us today and compels us to face ourselves and our unwillingness to relinquish any attachment that prevents us from belonging to him without reservation. It makes us ask ourselves, what is there in my life that possesses me more than Jesus Christ does. What do I find impossible to give up? What is the meaning of this life? Can I live on earth for good?
We are living in the real world! We need everything for our human lives. We need to know how to balance our lives with all kinds we need for this life; but I am sure that you would agree with me that this life is our transitional not eternal life. Death is the last thing of this life. For everyone sooner or later must come to see God one day when the curtain of death falls down! So we hopefully use everything we have as good means not destination!
Our most necessary task in life lies in discovering Christ’s Divine Wisdom lovableness in all its fullness, and then our total renunciation, our all-out gift of self and all that we have and are, will follow inevitably.

“Know Your Worth” by Mary Morris
“I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.” (Luke 15:7)
We are all children of God, regardless of if we want to admit it. He has set out a plan for our lives. We may think we have taken different paths than He has chosen, and that’s true up to a point, but He makes certain we come back to where He’s taking us because God’s plan is going to unfold. Period.
Of the 99 righteous people, they have no worries. Let’s talk about the one repentant sinner. God created that one, too. He watched as he fell deeper and deeper into sin and degradation. This sinner lost friends, family, jobs, finances, home, and even his car. He was in the deepest pit of despair imaginable, without even a glimmer of hope.
But something changed for this pitiful soul. He may have seen a cross in a churchyard or a backlit stained window showing Christ’s crucifixion. It may even have been a simple smile and a “God bless” given to him by a stranger. Whatever it was, He finally realized that not all hope was lost, that there was a way he could turn things around and live a new life, dedicated to the One who made it possible.
And that’s where the righteous often differ from the repentant sinner. As the righteous, we may become complacent in our faith and think everything will always fall into place for us. That’s just not true. Remember Job? And another thing: There, but for the grace of God, go you or I or anyone else. The righteous have been blessed, yes, but we need always to remember from Whom our blessings flow! Never, never, never take Him for granted!
That one sinner who is redeemed, who is given another chance, knows exactly what he is worth. He has seen the ugly side of sin and what it can do to a person, but he chose to put a greater value on his life. He found that Jesus loves him, died for him, and rose again so that we might all be given a doover. He knows what he’s worth.

Cornerstone Foursquare Church
“Cornerstone is a place to Honor God’s Word,” lead pastor Rev. Mickey Baldwin said. He continues, asking, “Does it seem there has become a famine in the land for God’s Word? I’m not talking about preaching it, quoting it or even posting it on social media. I’m talking about reading it, devouring it and making it the highest priority in our lives. Well, having said that, let me invite you to a month of Sundays where my wife, Marcie Baldwin, and I invite you to Stop Hunger as we Establish a Healthy Diet on God’s Word.”
Consider being our guest this Sunday and let your heart find hope to follow Jesus. The CF campus is located at 617 N. Oklahoma Ave. in Okmulgee at the intersection of Oklahoma and Trent. Doors open at 10 a.m. Sundays for connecting with a cup from Café Hope, if you like. A time of passionate music will kick off the service at 10:30 a.m. as children’s ministry begins in the CF Kids Zone. During this spiritual encouragement, you can expect God’s Word to bring you hope for today. We have a seat for you. A place to connect, be accepted and grow with others.
