Preparation Underway for New Monument

Concrete for the sidewalk and base for the new Okmulgee County Veterans Memorial was poured on Monday. The new monument will be located on the northwest corner of the Okmulgee County Courthouse lawn, and will display the names of all county servicemen and women who gave their lives in support of freedom. Installation of the monument will be soon, just in time for Veterans Day on Nov. 11. A special dedication program is being planned and will be announced soon by Tom Payne, who has spearheaded the project. Completing the concrete work were Sterling Ross and Johnny Cloud.
