To Win – and Lose
I was in my first year of college. It was my birthday. My roommate and a couple of his friends decided that my birthday was a good time to follow a tradition of college mates. They swept into the room where they intended to whisk me off to the showers and rinse me down, clothes and all. I quickly discerned their purpose and resisted. I jumped onto my bed with my back to the wall and fought them off by kicking at them with my strong legs. They almost conquered me once, but in the end, I succeeded in thwarting their attempts.
