My Words Will Remain
During the course of a single week, we hear a lot of words, but how many of them are worth remembering? Here each Sunday, we hear the words of Christ, words that were written down by the people who knew him, and were preserved for us over the centuries by the Church from the Bible. Thus Christ’s promise has come true: “All things will pass, but my words will remain.”
In the first reading today from the Book of Daniel written about 164 years before Christ, Daniel had a vision about the death and resurrection.
In Mark’s Gospel today, Jesus tells us two things. First, the prediction of destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem. The Roman General Titus in 70 AD with his army invaded Jerusalem for months. The Jerusalem Temple finally had been destroyed. The second thing is the end of the world when Jesus mentioned the destruction of the temple of Jerusalem. Jesus said, “One day the world will be ended!” But he did not tell when! However, he assured, “The sky, the moon and the earth will pass away, but my word never pass away.”
Today’s Gospel gives us a timely message about the end of the world. Between now and the end of the generation we are likely to have to put up with a multiplicity of “prophet” telling us the end is nigh. Some of them will no doubt presume to know the time and the number of the last bus! Jesus tells us that no one knows when the end will come except God. We should take that very seriously and pay no heed to the false prophets. Obviously, we have never seen anyone on earth that can live forever. Society fools us. It tries to let us live far away from God. Keep in mind we are all the pilgrimage of life.
The words of Jesus from the Bible that have been handed down to us are enough, provided of course they are alive in our hearts and active in our lives. They will give sufficient light and hope to get by, and we will shed light around us so those who are now in darkness will also be able to find their way home.

“To and For” by Mary Morris
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
No, that title’s not meant to read “To and Fro.” We often think of doing for others, but aren’t we guilty of having thoughts of doing to others?
Sadly, our world has become one of “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.” That’s not how Jesus describes the right behavior: Treat others how you want to be treated. There are no qualifiers or quantifiers. We are just to do the right thing regardless of authority, position, or how much we might get in return.
But what is the “right” thing? Be polite. Be respectful. Lift up others. Let rumors die with you. Love. Forgive. Be generous. Be willing to do the jobs nobody else will do. Above all, trust God has put you in a position to carry His word for Him and He will make certain you succeed.
Although what you do is to others, it ultimately will be for the Lord. And when He wins, we, as His family, are winners, too.
Cornerstone Foursquare Church
“Cornerstone is a place to reset your life with Hope,” lead pastor Rev. Mickey Baldwin said. He continues, saying, “We often talk about our great faith or weakened faith, but without hope, faith has no place to grow, and we see it grow by hearing God’s Word, not by wishing something would come true. So, we pray that our CF Sundays would position you to meet face-to-face with God and His people each Sunday morning. The doors of Cornerstone are opened at 10 a.m. for you during the Harvest Season for you to be encouraged, grow and get a cup of coffee as you get plugged into God’s Word. Join each Sunday in November for this month’s series titled ‘Stop the Hunger,’ taught by my wife, Marcie Baldwin, and me as we invite you to establish a Healthy Diet on God’s Word.”
Be our guest this Sunday. Come and let your heart find hope to follow Jesus.
