Green Country Technology Center (GCTC) celebrated 30 years of providing knowledge and skills training to area residents last Thursday during a special program. During the event, Superintendent Roger King, along with Marketing Director Julie Roberds, welcomed many former and current staff, students and board members. A proclamation from the City of Okmulgee was presented by Mickey Baldwin to King. Also speaking was the state director of Career Tech, Marcie Mack. Special award was presented to Steve Emerson, who taught Construction Trades for many years. A time capsule containing items from the various departments was filled and ‘buried’ underneath the stage, and will be opened on the 60th anniversary of the school. Following the program, the guests enjoyed refreshments, and viewed a video presentation thanks to Tyler Roberds of Roberds Studio. PATRICK FORD
