Okmulgee AgEd freshmen Keira Swayze, Kalacee Rangel and Amita Day felt the differences between soil textures during the recent Okmulgee “Soil Week” lessons taught by AgEd Program Assistant Angela Johnson and AgEd Student-Teacher Stephaine Helsen. Students learned about soil horizons and layers, how to properly collect a soil sample, soil’s role in the environment and how to determine soil texture. Soil Week gives students many hands-on experiences to gain a better appreciation of soil and its role in our everyday lives just below our feet. KALI PEREZ
