Renee Peterson and Rodney McDaniel of Shorter Chapel are shown with the items for the “Better Together” Christmas Giveaway, which was held Wednesday. Peterson, a former Okmulgee resident, now living in Tulsa, wanted to share a holiday blessing with 15 families, and came up with the giveaway in association with Dr. Freeman Culver, pastor of Shorter Chapel and president of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and the Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter Director Brenda Brewer. The food boxes were given by a drawing at the OCHS Thrift Store. The box included items such as stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, along with a voucher for a ham or turkey - everything to make a Christmas dinner. There were also lots of everyday food items that were donated that will be distributed to those in need. PATRICK FORD
