The Special Olympics Oklahoma Winter Games were held in Edmond earlier this month. Okmulgee’s own Courtney Coleman competed in swimming at the Mitch Park YMCA Aquatics Center placing 2nd in the 50 meter free style and the 50 meter backstroke. Coleman is part of the Oklahoma Team who will be competing in Orlando later this year in the Special Olympics USA Games. Of those on the Oklahoma Swimming Team, six brought home Gold Medals at the Winter Games and two Silver Medals competing in eight events. COURTESY PHOTOS
