OHS Senior Places 2nd in VOD Contest

Okmulgee High School Senior Adason Mathis placed second in the Voice of Democracy competition in District 7, after winning the local competition. Pictured presenting her award are VFW Post 1189 Commander Guy Duckworth and Auxiliary President Carol Smith, along with Okmulgee Speech and Drama Coach Stormy Howell. Adason also won a cash prize to go along with her placement. There is still time for local students to enter contests which can earn them awards and cash. The deadline for the Illustrating America (grades 1-8) and the Patriotic Singing Contest is March 31. See the related article above for more information. PATRICK FORD
