It was years since I had passed that particular cement block wall. But as I gazed at it, the name spray-painted on the wall still stood out: Gary ... with the last name as well. I always wondered who put it there. Gary had been one of the popular boys at school. He was handsome. I remember when our school paper had written a typical junior high-ish article asking what the perfect boy’s features would be. Gary’s eyes and Gary’s wavy locks of hair were among the features listed. So, it was no surprise to see his name spray-painted on the wall. You could say that at that time in life, Gary had it all: looks, fame, desirability, and any (maybe all) the girls he wanted.
