The Preston Pirate varsity baseball team saw their chances of a second-straight tournament championship fall by the wayside this past Friday afternoon. The Pirates, who captured the Mounds Tournament crown April 8 with a 12-9 win over the host Mounds Golden Eagles, came up one win short of reaching the finals of their annual home tournament - the 2022 Preston Invitational Baseball Tournament - falling by a 6-3 margin to the Kellyville Ponies in Friday’s semifinal round.
