It wasn’t but about two years ago, the City Council election had just a couple of seats up for election and very few candidates. Earlier this month, we had a City Council election and there were four candidates. Personally, I view this as a major step forward. As I reported earlier, the OADC always offers to give the candidates a group or personal briefing on what the Okmulgee Area Development Corp. is and what we do. Three of the candidates spoke with us and two met with us for an extended period of time. Now, we’re having a run-off election and the difference between two of the candidates was just 18 votes! So yes, your vote does count. Now, if we could only get the total number of votes cast up, way up.
