“But Moses said to the people, ‘Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.’” (Exodus 14:13-14) Poor Moses. He didn’t want the job the Lord gave him, but he took it, reluctantly, knowing that Aaron would help him. He witnessed God’s hand fall on Egypt and grew in his faith as a result. Now it was his turn to teach the people. And what a job that was! They groused and complained at every turn. They played the blame game, often asking if Moses had brought them to the wilderness only to die. How they tried the patience of both Moses and the Lord! Moses’ response here is something they - and we - seldom take to heart.
