Okmulgee held the annual Okmulgee County Fair at the Okmulgee Fairgrounds.
Emma Jean Gouthier was awarded a plaque and certificate from the Okmulgee County District 2 Commissioner. Gouthier was recognized for 35 years of loyal service to Okmulgee County.
The Okmulgee Service League accepted letters from local organizations to be considered as recipients
for OSL’s 2014 major fundraisers.

The Okmulgee Times held a pet contest. Participants submitted a photo for $4 and there were four categories to compete in, the winner of each receiving $25, including most unusual pet, funniest pet, cutest pet and best photo.
Okmulgee High School received 10 computers and five printers from Tinker Air Force Base as a gift.
Okmulgee Lions Club searched for golf teams for their Golf Tournament. It cost $50 a person for the teams to join in.

50 Years Ago:
The Okmulgee County Conservation District received award certificates from J.H. Freed and Mike Treadwell, both from Goodyear Rubber Co. The award was made to the Conservation District as the top district in Oklahoma in a statewide conservation contest.
Wacker’s sold nine wallet sized photos for 99 cents and threw in an 8×10 photo as well.
Randy Ray, a 17-yearold member of the Okmulgee FFA Chapter and reporter was selected as the top participant in the first annual state FFA Leadership Camp.

100 Years Ago:
A fire broke out in barber L.R. Mabrey’s home. After firemen broke in, they found rugs, bedding, beds and rags all soaked in kerosene with steady flames.
Grocery stores and markets all over town participated in Dollar Day, putting every item they had for a dollar in the paper.
Kiwanians, Okmulgee’s production team, returned from their vacations in different sections of the country. Each person gave brief reports on the conventions they attended.
