How Sheltering Works and the Financing of It All
In Nov. 2015, the Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter found itself with a compound problem and a victim of circumstance. With the resignation of the director earlier that August, the OCHS board did everything they could to keep the shelter in operation. Having just $1,000 in the checking account, no reserves, back taxes and utility bills past due, it was time for a turn around.
