Rarely in the 248-year history of the founding of the United States military (June 14, 1775), has a Seaman Recruit climbed the military ladder to the “Flag Officer” rank of Rear Admiral (2 star) in the United States Navy. Tuesday’s Okmulgee Lions Club’s Veterans’ Day program was presented by such an individual, Oklahoma’s own Rear Admiral (Ret.) Gregory Slavonic. A big gratitude of thanks to Rep. Scott Fetgatter for his assistance in getting Adm. Slavonic to attend our Veterans Day program.
