Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
Sixty-four years ago in Boston, Mass. on January 19, 1959, a very special baby girl was born to George An and Mary Lois (McElhannon) Harding. She was given the name of Georganna Marie Harding.
Georganna was known as the oldest of five siblings and she filled this role very well. Her family was everything to her and she loved to spend time with them and have family dinners together. She was known by all those around her as a kind, generous, giving soul. She never complained nor did she ever ask for anything back from those she helped and served. Her laughter and smile would brighten even the heaviest of spirits and she loved with a pure heart and genuine love.
Georganna gave both in life and in her death. In life to all those she met and had a need she could fill, and in death by donating as many organs as needed to help those she never got the chance to meet. It was important to her to give it when and where you could. Because of that gift, many will be able to truly live their lives in a positive, impactful way fulfilling a wish that was especially important to her.
Georganna graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1977 before attending Oklahoma State Technical College where she received her nursing degree. She worked 18 years as a Dialysis Nurse, 13 years at Fountain View in Henryetta, as well as several years at Okmulgee Memorial and Henryetta hospitals for a total of 43 years in her field.
God blessed her with a servant’s heart, and January 19, 1959 – December 14, 2023
she spent her entire life filling that role with a humble spirit, always in the background quietly helping in any capacity needed. No job was too big or too small for her to fill. She gave her all to everything and everyone, drawing her strength from seeing the needs of others met. She was such a joy to be around and will be missed by those she interacted with on a daily basis.
Georganna is preceded in death by her father, George An Harding on September 19, 2023. She is survived by her only child, a son, John William Cunningham; her longtime companion, John Piccolo; her mother Mary Lois (McElhannon) Harding; sisters, Anita Harding-Dewhirst (Charles), Deborah Harding-Cato, Teresa Harding; and one brother, Douglas Harding. Georganna was blessed with five grandchildren, Kitty Lawson, Jason Lawson, Ashley Skinner, Stephanie McKinley, and Kingsley Cunningham. She also had great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her immensely.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1327 E. 13th St. in Okmulgee, on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2 p.m.
Georganna was cared for by Gary Kelley’s Add’Vantage Funeral Services in Tulsa.
