Steven ‘Steve’ Ross Watts, 61, of Morris, was tragically taken from this world on December 14, 2023.
Steve was born in Okmulgee at Doctor’s Hospital to John Ross Watts and Judith Ann Osmond on October 16, 1962, but arguably the 15th if you spoke to his mother ‘Judy.’
As a child, he enjoyed his time in Cub Scouts and working with his mother in her cafe in Fort Gibson, called Fort Cafe. Steve graduated from Liberty Mounds High School in 1980.
He spent the next year working for Clem Cottom ‘Doc’ at Cottom Vet Clinic.
In the late 1980s, Steve married the love of his life, Mashell. With her son Christopher Liddy, they quickly formed a family. They added a little girl, Kindra, in October 1989. During the early 90s, Steve stayed busy helping his mother with all her exotic animals, working for her in Whisler Paint and Whisler Construction. In the mid-90s, he ventured off and started JW Construction.
In July 1995, they gave birth to a little boy, Tyler.
More recently, Steve has enjoyed being a family man. He spent his time handing out food sacks for his church, teaching his youngest, Tyler Watts, how to be an owner/ operator just like him with TW Dirtwork, picking up his grandkids from school, and showing them the same October 16, 1962 – December 14, 2023
love for heavy equipment he had. He was a man who would give you the shirt off his back. If he could be remembered as anything we know, it would be Husband, Father, and PaPa.
Steve is preceded in death by Judith ‘Judy’ Ann Whisler and father John ‘JR’ Ross Watts.
He will forever be remembered by his beloved wife, Mashell Watts; son, Christopher Liddy and wife, Rae Thompson; daughter, Kindra Johnson; son, Tyler and wife, Jessica Watts; grandchildren, Mattie Liddy, Eric Voirin, Lance Johnson, Tate Johnson,Waylon Watts; his brothers, Gary and wife Darlene Watts and Leroy and wife Shelly Whisler; sister, Christian Whisler and special mention Aunt Vicki Ary who was always more of a sister and a friend along with many other family and friends who will cherish his memory.
We will gather to celebrate his memory at 10:30 a.m. on January 6, 2024, at Okmulgee First Free Will Baptist Church, with lifelong friend Pastor Chet Cottom presiding.
