Inclement weather forces postponements
This past Sunday, Mother Nature decided to put high school athletics in a ‘deep freeze’, blanketing the state with snowfall.
Due to the inclement weather and sub-freezing temperatures, Okmulgee County schools were forced to postpone four basketball games that were scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
Two other regular-season games that were scheduled to take place last Friday were also postponed due to the chance of inclement weather and freezing temperatures.
Three of Tuesday’s, as well as one of last Friday’s two, canceled games have been rescheduled at presstime.
The two games from last Friday that have postponed are Schulter’s home game against Bowlegs and Wilson’s road game at Midway. The Schulter home game has been moved to January 26, while the Wilson game has yet to be rescheduled, as of presstime.
Tuesday’s postponements included Beggs’ home county battle with Henryetta, Dewar’s home game against Mounds, Morris’ road game at Kellyville, and Okmulgee’s road game at Cascia Hall.
The Beggs-Henryetta county clash in Beggs has been rescheduled for January 27 with a special start time of 2 p.m., while Morris’ game at Kellyville has been moved to February 6. The Okmulgee-Cascia Hall contest has been rescheduled for January 30 at historic Brock Memorial Gymnasium in Okmulgee. As of presstime, the Dewar home game against Mounds has not been rescheduled.
