Applications available for The Academy of Okmulgee
Lottery applications for admission to the new charter school, The Academy of Okmulgee, are now open on their website.
The Academy of Okmulgee is a free, public school that will open in August. It is part of a larger collaboration with support from Advance Rural Education and The Academy of Seminole.
The Academy will first open to students in Pre-K through 8th grade, and will then open an additional grade each year until 12th grade.
Admission to the school will be done through a lottery system. A school lottery system is a random selection process for determining which students will attend, and aims to give all applicants an equal chance of being admitted.
A school lottery system only occurs when more students apply for admission than can be admitted.
The Academy of Okmulgee will be located at 209 W. 8th, at the location of Stonebridge Academy, which will close at the end of the current school year.
