OFD installs smoke detectors for residents
Members of the Okmulgee Fire Department have not let a busy time of year keep them from going above and beyond in service to the citizens of Okmulgee.
Tuesday evening, members of “A” shift stopped a multi-vehicle fire before it extended to the home and had a multi-vehicle collision among their other runs.
On Monday, crews made a run to the wooded area behind Harmon Stadium. This area is a frequented hot spot for fires of makeshift structures. No injuries were reported.
On Tuesday, in between their usual service calls, crews delivered and installed smoke detectors to residents on the west side of Okmulgee, an area that has experienced a rise in deadly fires in recent months.
Lieutenant Rocky Morrow stated that the batteries in these smoke detectors have a tenyear lifespan. One goal is that these efforts help to prevent future emergencies and familiarize the public with their local firefighters.
