Mrs. Shirlanna Harbin’s first grade class at Okmulgee Primary School has enjoyed learning about famous and important people during their Black History Research Projects. This week, they were able to present their projects in class. Okmulgee Primary will hold their Black History Program on Feb. 29 at 9 a.m. Harbin’s class also recently tried to collect Valentine’s from every state, and the response was overwhelming. Over 700 Valentine’s were received from around the country and the world. “We were able to touch people in New Zealand, Central Asia, Japan,” Mrs. Harbin stated in an interview. “Every single card said ‘with love,’ or ‘we are sending encouragement,’ or ‘we are sending positivity.” Her 21 students learned how powerful love really is, and learning more about the world.
