Darel Duane Bush, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at his home. Darel was born September 3, 1964, in Hunnington Beach, Calif. to Darrell Douglas and Joyce (Hemmingsen) Bush. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1982 and later joined the United States Air Force. After returning from the service, Darel attended OSUIT, receiving his degree in drafting. He was currently employed by Ruhrpumpen Tulsa as a draftsman engineer.
Darel had a love for restoring old cars. He also enjoyed the time he spend fishing. He was a member of the Okmulgee Elks Lodge, but was no stranger to the casino.
Darel was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Bush; wife, LaToya (Clark) Bush; brothers, David Bush, Sr. and Dean Bush; step-father, Leroy Burklin; step-children, Kurstyn and Triston Pelegrin; and a niece, Brittny Bush.
Survivors include his son, Kyle Bush; mother, Joyce Burklin; grandchildren, Sayia and Anthony Vanderslice; sister, Debbie Heard and husband Dewayne; step-brothers, Jimmy Burklin and Cory Love; uncle David Bush and wife Sheila; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 2-7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Compass Assembly of God, with Rev. Nathan L. Lamirand officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Okmulgee Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David Morgan Bush, Jr., Len Payne, Travis Corn, Jacob Finley, Robert Salyer and Anthony Vanderslice. Honorary casket bearers will be Mark Sims, Paul Hage and Paul Jackson.
