Gathering planned on Courthouse lawn
‘Lift Up The Word – Light Up The World’ is the theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer, which will take place Thursday, May 2. A local gathering will take place at the Okmulgee County Courthouse on the west lawn at 6 p.m.
Okmulgee Mayor Mickey Baldwin invites citizens from across the city and county to attend this National event as “we join together with one mind, one heart and one prayer to declare that “God’s way is perfect…” The theme for this year’s event comes out of the writings of Samuel.
“For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God light-

“We may not always agree in every situation,” Mayor Baldwin explained, “however we can stand together to be a strong light in the midst of challenging dark days across our nation. Join me as we take steps to have one heart to see our communities thrive and light up to be the best citizens we can to build a greater tomorrow today. Join me as we pray for our nation from sea to shining sea from right here in the heartland.”
