— About Steve Ward
Candidate for District 2 Commissioner
Lifelong Okmulgee County resident Steve Ward is running for County Commissioner in District 2.
Ward grew up in the Liberty Community and graduated from Morris High School. His father, El- mer “Pete” Ward, was the road foreman for Commissioner Tom Duncan, and from his example, Steve learned about community service, thrift and a strong work ethic. He put these qualities into practice in jobs ranging from a reserve police officer to an employee for Anchor Glass.
Notably, Ward took a high school summer job and from it built Quarter Mile Fencing into a company with six full time employees and a reputation for honesty, quality, and dependability.
He and his wife Margaret have been happily married for 30 years and have two children and four grandchildren. He served on the Liberty School board and is a member of and former trustee for the Okmulgee Elks Lodge.
Ward’s motto is “I will not leave the job until it’s done right.” He is committed to bringing his common-sense experience in owning and managing a successful business and put it to work serving Okmulgee County District 2.
