H-Town Theatre’s ‘Music Man’ opens tomorrow
It’s Show Time!
Tomorrow evening, the long hours of rehearsal and preparation for Henryetta High School Theater Department spring production will be showcased before the community.
H-Town Theatre, under the direction of Justin Been, will present Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” which is directed by HHS alumni Liz Bealko.
Performances are May 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m., and May 19 at 2 p.m. at the Alice Ghostley Auditorium at Hen- ryetta High School.
Tickets for the upcoming production of “Music Man” by the H-Town Theatre are available.
Adults are $12, students $7 per show. For passes to all the shows, it is $40 for adults and $20 for students (four shows).
You may purchase those through any cast member or Coach Justin Been.
Long hours of preparation has gone into making this a spectacular presentation, featuring a talented cast of Henryetta students.
One of the exciting features of the production – besides the talented cast members – is the costumes. Obtained through a company in Florida, the costumes being used by the cast were used in the Broadway production which featured Hugh Jackman.
During Monday’s school board meeting, member Pam Bealko, mother of the director, raved about the production and the costuming, with all members excited to see the play come to life.
“The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.”
Taking on the lead role is 2024 HHS graduate Caveryn Foster as Prof. Harold Hill. Marian Poo is portrayed by Emma Thompson.
The community is invited to join H-Town Theatre this weekend and enjoy the presentation. Thanks to the many community partners, businesses, individuals, organizations and volunteers for their work in bringing the production to life.
Previous productions by Justin Been and H-Town Theatre include “Sound of Music” (2019-20), “Oklahoma” (2021), “Beauty and the Beast” (202122) and “The Addams Family” (202223).
