The Morris School board approved several items related to improvements, upgrades and safety for the district and community during their regular session Monday.
The board continues to work towards enhancing the educational environment and supporting the community, especially in light of recent natural disasters.
Items approved were:
• Musco Lighting Purchase Lease Agreement: Approval to enter into an agreement for athletic field lighting
• CWA Contract: Approval to enter into a contract for FEMA grant work for a safe room
• Contract with Barrier Electric: Approved for the installation of LED lighting at the football field and two LED poles at the baseball field The board approved the con- sent agenda, consolidating several routine items into one vote. Key approvals included:
• Minutes of the May 13 Regular Meeting
• Financial Reports for FY 24, including various fund encumbrances and the treasurer’s report
• Activity Fund Transfers and their allocations
• Contract Renewals with various service providers including Air MEDCare, OSAG, OSIG, J&J School Services and OROS Membership • Open Transfer Capacities update
• Donation Acceptance: $2,500 to support tornado damage recovery • P-card Rebates: $855.99 to ADMIN/PR
• Resignations: Brittni Foster, Teresa Adnan and Stephanie Basquez Several key discussions and actions were taken:
• Muscogee Nation Head Start Agreement: Approval of the Memorandum of Agreement
• Custodial Bids for FY 25: Discussion and action on custodial services — Executive Session
The board entered an executive session to discuss personnel issues. Following the session, the board returned to open session, and decisions from the executive session included:
• Reemployment of Caleb Bigpond: Approved on a certified teacher temporary contract for FY 25 • Employment of Temporary Personnel: Approved for FY 25
• Hiring Teacher Candidates: Approved for FY 25
• Administrative Assignments: Approved for FY 25, including Aimee Mason as Title IX Coordinator and Homeless Liaison and Kelly Kindell as Activity Director
• Coaching Assignments: Approved for FY 25
• Maintenance Hiring: Approved for FY 25
