An Arkansas man is facing stolen vehicle charges following his arrest Sunday afternoon in Henryetta.
According to county court documents, around 4 p.m. June 23, a HPD officer was dispatched to the area of Main Street and 14th to check on a male subject dressed in a multi-colored poncho attempting to flag down passing vehicles.
Upon arriving in the area, the HPD noticed the subject walking from the area of 14th Street toward a convenience store carrying an empty water bottle.
The officer noted the subject then pumped half gallon of gas into the bottle and then walked back to a disabled brown colored Nissan pickup truck with Arkansas tags sitting in the eastbound lanes of the street.
After running the tag through dispatch, he was advised the truck had been entered stolen out of Johnson County in Clarksville, Ark.
The male then arrived back at the truck, put the gas into it and attempted to start it when the HPD officer made contact with him.
The man, identified as Muang Nyunt, 33, told the officer ‘he had borrowed the pickup truck from his brother’ in Arkansas.
According to the court document, the information given did not match the registered owner.
Nyunt was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and was taken to the Okmulgee County Jail on the stolen vehicle complaint.
Officials were working to positively ID the man due to him not having a valid driver’s license or ID.
Nyunt is scheduled to appear in Okmulgee County district court for an initial appearance on July 1 at 1:15 p.m.
