Get ready for the oohs and aahs, as several fireworks displays will celebrate America’s Independence Day, not just tomorrow, but through the weekend.
Tomorrow, the City of Okmulgee will hold its annual Fireworks Extravaganza under the direction of Emergency Management Director and Li- censed Pyrotechnician Ken Anderson, July 4, at Okmulgee’s Municipal Park.
“We look forward to a real show-stopper display,” Anderson said. “We will be shooting over 1,000 shells and choreographed to six songs. Hopefully everyone will bring their families out to experience the fireworks and enjoy the park.”
Personal fireworks in the park are not allowed.
Anderson and his team have been working diligently to put together the display that is made possible through the gracious donations from various sponsors.
There will be food vendors in the park for your enjoyment beginning at 7 p.m., including hot dogs, chips and pop from the Knights of Columbus, Raven Rock Pizza, Antonio’s Fried Fish, Jack’s Ice Cream, Coffee Gait and Frost Bites & Java Delights.
Live music will also be a feature of the event as Lance Gouge and his band starts entertaining at 7 p.m.
The fireworks show begins at 10 p.m.
There also will be two water slides provided by the Fraternal Order of Police #96 to entertain and cool off the kids. Brenda Mann will be in the park, handing out fun stuff to the children.
