FEMA Site Visits & Tornado Recovery Morris Facilities Assessment: FEMA conducted site visits to assess the damage caused by recent tornadoes at Morris facilities. The evaluation focused on structural damage and necessary repairs to restore full functionality.
Follow-up meetings with FEMA were held to discuss ongoing recovery efforts, ensuring a coordinated approach to rebuilding and securing necessary resources.
— Water Supply & Emergency Response • Preston Water Office: Two water buffalos were deployed to the Preston water office to assist with water shortages caused by tornado damage. Continuous monitoring of repairs and replenishment of the water supply was conducted throughout the outage to ensure access to clean water.
• Muscogee Nation Emergency Management: Deployed two water trailers to the Twin Hills area to support local water needs. Supplied one pallet of drinking water to Preston to aid in relief efforts.
• RWD 13: Deployed one water buffalo to Tiger Mountain area due to RWD 13 upgrades that include draining and cleaning water tower. RWD 13 supplies water to portions of Okmulgee County.

Garage Building Insulation: Installation of insulation in the new garage building at the Emergency Management office has been completed. Electrical work and overhead door opener installation are scheduled for completion this week, enhancing the facility’s functionality and readiness. Repaired restroom that had faulty flapper and fill valve. Continued cleaning and going through equipment determining items still needed and items that can be surplussed.
— Fire & Weather Conditions
• Grass Fires: Eight grass fires were reported in Okmulgee County during the week, attributed to excessive heat and dry conditions.
• Drought Conditions: The western quarter of Okmulgee County remains abnormally dry, with no rain forecasted for the next 7 to 10 days. The excessively dry conditions are expected to expand throughout Okmulgee County, increasing the risk of further fires and water shortages.
— Community Engagement & Land Use Floodplain Consultation: Discussions were held with a realtor and prospective land buyer in District 2 regarding floodplain regulations and the implications for building in these areas. Emphasis was placed on adhering to regulations to prevent future flood-related damages and ensure sustainable development.
