It’s Storytime!
Okmulgee Public Library’s Storytime with Ms. Jessica starts each year on the first Wednesday in September and continues through the end of April.
There are two programs held: First Friends and Circle of Friends.
First Friends (Ages 0-2)
Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
This program has been designed to include a variety of activities appropriate for toddlers. Some children may want to participate, while others may be content to just observe. All adults are expected to participate. The main goal is for everyone to have a good time. This program lasts about 30 minutes and includes a small playtime with the other participants at the end.
— Circle of Friends (Ages 3-5)
Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
This program will include the children listening to stories, interacting with stories, learning rhymes and singing. The kids will also make a craft to take home each Wednesday.
Have children wear clothes that would be okay with getting paint, glue, etc on.
Storytime lasts about 45 minutes including a little bit of playtime with the other kids participating. Parents are asked to allow their child to go to Storytime alone, but are required to stay in the library until Storytime is over. If your child is not able to attend on their own, please attend “First Friends” class until they are more comfortable.
The Okmulgee Public Library appreciates if you arrive 5-10 minutes before Storytime is scheduled to begin. This allows you and your child to spend time in the children’s section of the main library and meet the other participants. We will enter the Storytime room together, when it is time to begin. Young children are easily distracted and late comers become the focus of attention and disrupt the flow of the program.
