Tickets are now available for an event marking a historic milestone in Okmulgee’s history, and the restoration efforts to bring the space back to community use.
On Sept. 28, the historic Okmulgee Mansion “Gala en Blanc,” organized by Landmark for All Generations, Inc., aims to raise funds for the restoration and renovation of the former “Okmulgee Colored Hospital.” This event will not only celebrate the 100th anniversary of the hospital but also serve as a significant step toward transforming the site into a museum and cultural center.
The ‘Gala en Blanc,’ set to begin at 5 p.m., invites guests to enjoy an elegant evening in all-white attire while supporting the preservation of a crucial piece of Okmulgee’s history.
Tickets are $60 per person, or tables can be purchased at a discounted rate of $430 for a table of eight.
The former Okmulgee Colored Hospital, a facility that played a vital role in the African-American community from its opening in 1924 until its closure in 1957, is undergoing a revitalization thanks to the dedication and vision of Landmark for All Generations, Inc.
The evening will feature special guest, Okmulgee native Kenneth W. Williams, Esq., whose career in law and insurance spans over three decades. Williams, a graduate of Cornell University and Cornell Law School, has made significant contributions to the legal and insurance industries, particularly in the area of cyber insurance. He has also authored two books, both set partially in Okmulgee, and is deeply committed to storytelling that captures the complexities of everyday life.
