In a high-scoring showdown, the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs emerged victorious over Liberty with a final score of 16-14 on Monday. Both teams combining for an impressive 39 hits.
Despite a challenging start that saw Liberty fall behind by five runs in the first inning, the Lady Tigers mounted a resilient comeback throughout the game. The Lady Bulldogs initially took the lead early on, capitalizing on hits by Dailyn Johnson, Kai Currin and Mahayla James to establish an early advantage.
Liberty, however, fought back valiantly, tying the game at crucial moments, including a standout performance in the fourth inning where Alicia and Makenzie’s hits contributed significantly.
The seesaw battle continued into the later innings, with Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs reclaiming the lead in the fifth inning, only for Liberty to surge ahead again in the sixth. It wasn’t until the seventh and eighth innings that Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs managed to secure their lead for good, scoring pivotal runs that ultimately sealed their victory.
Pitcher Ally Lowe played a crucial role in the win, pitching a complete game despite the challenge, while Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs’ offense was led by standout performances from Tiah Harjo and Brylee Edlin, who combined for key hits and RBIs.
The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to face Mounds in action on Tuesday.
