I thought they were joking, teasing me, and making fun of the fact that I could sleep so peacefully. However, they weren’t. There actually had been a fire in the house across the street from our house during the night. Fire engines with all their sirens and noise, and people shouting and talking right in front of our house, and I had slept through it all. My bedroom was only twenty-five feet from the road. How was it possible that I had slept through the whole thing?
