Dragons, Lady Dragons Capture Welch Tourney Championship

The Dewar Dragons and Lady Dragons were on fire as they blazed through the Welch Tournament last week to capture the trophy on Saturday. The Lady Dragons, under Coach Stephen Castlebury, opened with a 61-12 win over Watts, then downed Bluejacket 54-29. The team finally beat Welch in overtime 57-48 for the title. Skylar Phillips was named MVP. On the boys side, the Dragons opened with a 73-23 win against Watts, a 49-40 win over Baxter Springs and a 52-19 win over Quapaw. Both squads are 3-0 for the year. Dewar was scheduled to face Mason yesterday evening before winter break begins.
