During Monday’s meeting of the Okmulgee County Board of Commissioners, one blanket purchase order was approved for District 2 (Bruckner’s for repairs), along with a private property agreement for a District 3 resident. The board also approved an unspecified action related to the “Oak Acres” plat.
Commissioners approved the use of the Use Tax fund to pay K&S Electric for improvements to Courtroom 2 and a $558.06 payment into the OSU Extension M&O account. County Clerk Tonya Day explained that the payment involved an AT&T refund and was simply a way to track the movement of funds into sub-accounts.
The board approved an updated utility relocation agreement for the Bristlecone Road project after identifying an error in the original paperwork. Additionally, they accepted an FY25 REAP grant, and approved a resolution to transfer real property to the Okmulgee County Governmental Building Authority Trust.
Sheriff Eddy Rice presented four lease-purchase agreements for new vehicles, which had been discussed in prior meetings. He noted the department’s potential to pay off the leases early if they secure an anticipated salary grant.
Emergency Management Director Jeff Moore provided updates on tornado recovery efforts, highlighting ongoing work with FEMA to address minor submission issues. Moore also informed the board about AT&T’s upcoming transition away from landlines, emphasizing the need for reliable backup solutions for emergency operations.
The board also revisited inventory issues, particularly concerning fire department bonds and equipment purchases. The board and other attendees once again raised concerns over the lack of proper documentation and compliance, with some departments failing to submit inventory reports. No concrete plan has yet been presented to resolve the matter.
