The Okmulgee Board of Education held a special meeting Jan. 23 to discuss the employment contract of Superintendent Clay Vineyard. The meeting began at 5:30 p.m. with a quorum established, as all board members except Heather Kimbley were in attendance.
The board entered an executive session pursuant to Oklahoma statutes, focusing on considerations regarding Vineyard’s employment, salary and related matters. After nearly an hour of deliberation, the board reconvened in open session at 6:34 p.m.
The key outcome of the meeting was a motion to reject any extension of the superintendent’s contract beyond its current term, which ends on June 30, 2027. The motion passed unanimously, with members Leroy Parker, Mike James, Vicky Jones and Krystal Bohannan voting in favor.
The meeting concluded at 6:35 p.m. No further matters were discussed, and no additional votes were taken during the executive session.
