With March just around the corner, high school baseball and slowpitch softball teams across Okmulgee County are gearing up for the 2025 spring season. The schedules for the area teams have been released, setting the stage for an exciting couple of months filled with competitive matchups, tournaments and postseason aspirations.

--- Okmulgee Bulldogs Open Season Monday Okmulgee Bulldogs baseball, under Coach Ed Vaught, kicks off the spring baseball season with a 5 p.m. meeting March 3 at Chandler. They then return to host Chandler on Tuesday. Other upcoming games include a road trip to Meeker on March 6 and a home game against Mounds on March 8.

The Bulldogs will have two games against Henryetta, March 10, at home and the following day at Henryetta, before participating in the Depew Tournament on March 13.

--- Morris Baseball Releases Schedule The Morris High School baseball team has released its schedule for the 2025 season. The team, led by Head Coach Perry Sebring and Assistant Coach Caleb Harjo, will compete in a series of games, both home and away, against various schools.

--- Preston Pirates Baseball Nears The Preston Pirates will open their season on March 6, traveling to Stroud for a doubleheader against Ampo/ Stroud at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Their first home game is set for March 10, when they host Dewey at 5 p.m.

• April 1: Stigler (Away, 5 p.m.)

• April 14: Pocola (Home, 5 p.m.)

• April 24-26: Okmulgee Tournament (TBA) The Pirates’ season will culminate in the postseason, beginning with Districts on May 1, Regionals on May 8-9, and State on May 15-17.

--- Wilson Slowpitch Approaches The Wilson Lady Tigers softball team is preparing for a challenging yet exciting schedule, beginning with an away game against Henryetta on March 6 at 5 p.m. The Tigers’ home opener will be on March 24 against Weleetka at 6 p.m.

• April 7: Holdenville & Morris (Home, 4:30 p.m. & 7 p.m.)

• April 10: Hulbert doubleheader (Senior Night, Home, 4 p.m.)

The Morris Eagles open their season on March 10 at home against Kellyville at 5 p.m. and will be on the road the next day to face Okemah at 4:30 p.m.

--- Beggs Demons, Lady Demons Ready for Season Excitement is high at Beggs with the Lady Demons set for a busy week, as they host games, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

• March 3 - vs Barnsdall

• March 4 - Kellyville

• March 6 - Drumright

• March 7 - Okay The Demons baseball team will face Holland Hall March 3 at home, then travel the following day to Holland Hall. On Thursday, they head to Okemah before hosting the Panthers the following day at home. Games begin at 5 p.m.
