While growing up, we made many trips along the old Hwy 66 from California to Oklahoma and back again. Although the trips were tediously long for a young boy, they were also full of adventure. Wild lands with flat-topped mesas, antelope herds and Indian trading posts spied from the road. The products of the Indian trading posts were intriguing to me with moccasins, blankets, knives, and oddities like Cactus Jelly.
