The Preston Lady Pirates continued their hot streak with a 17-2 thrashing of the Quinton Lady Savages on Monday at Porum, powered by a perfect day at the plate from Taylan Starr.
Starr went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single, driving in a run and scoring multiple times to lead a Lady Pirate offense that pounded out 17 hits.
Preston wasted no time, scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the first. Olivia Beaver doubled in a run, Kynlee Martin added a two-RBI double, and Starr, Kristin Holuby, and Na’Braijhanae Phillips all chipped in with run-scoring hits. A costly error by Quinton also plated three runs during the frame.
The Lady Pirates kept rolling in the second with hits from Aiyana Beaver, Starr, and Holuby. They tacked on two more runs in the third on a triple by Sophia Bunner and an RBI groundout by Ashleigh Hurt.
Holuby earned the win in the circle, giving up two runs on six hits in three innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
Six Lady Pirates collected multiple hits in the game. Holuby drove in three runs and went 2-for-2 at the plate. Phillips, Cope, Beaver, and Martin also had strong offensive showings. Defensively, Preston was flawless, committing no errors. Aiyana Beaver had four fielding chances to lead the way.
Quinton was led by Lillee Powell, who went 2-for-2, while Bailey Purdom and Paislee Powell each recorded RBIs.
