A suspect who made direct threats to law enforcement and the Muscogee Nation Medical Center has been taken into custody thanks to swift collaboration between Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police and the Tulsa Police Department.
On the morning of March 27, Muscogee Nation Lighthorse issued a Be On The Lookout (BOLO) for Morgan Freeman, a 50-year-old white male. Freeman was last seen driving a black 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with Oklahoma tag LCJ110. Authorities warned that Freeman was possibly armed and had made threatening statements, including his intention to “take out” any law enforcement officers who got in his way.
The threats followed a phone call Freeman made earlier that morning to the Muscogee Nation Health Complex in Okmulgee, where he expressed dissatisfaction over a family member’s care and escalated to threats of violence against the facility and responding officers.
Later that afternoon, around 1 p.m., Tulsa Police Auto Theft Detectives contacted Freeman regarding a separate case involving the theft of his mother’s vehicle, which had been reported stolen. While speaking with Freeman by phone, detectives quickly connected the case to the active threats reported in Okmulgee.
During the conversation, Freeman admitted to possessing the stolen vehicle and multiple firearms. Detectives were able to de-escalate the situation and convince Freeman to surrender peacefully by establishing a rapport during the call.
Officers located Freeman at a residence near 5700 E. 65th Street in Tulsa, where he was taken into custody without incident. Inside the stolen vehicle, detectives discovered three loaded pistols, night vision goggles, binoculars, ammunition, and other tactical items.
Freeman was booked into the Okmulgee County Jail on charges of Planned Attempt to Conspire to Perform an Act of Violence.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.
The Tulsa Police Department commended the efforts of the Auto Theft Unit, stating, “Great work by Auto Theft Detectives in helping catch this suspect!”
