A take-back event for medication and sharps will be held next Tuesday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at OSUIT’s Covelle Hall, located on E. 1st Street in Okmulgee. The event site is accessible via the north drive of Covelle Hall; signage will be posted to help direct traffic for easy and efficient drop-off.
New this year, the event will accept medical sharps,
SEE MEDICATION TAKE-BACK, PAGE A6 including needles, lancets and syringes, in addition to unused and expired medications. Please ensure all sharps are safely secured in a puncture-resistant container, such as a detergent jug, plastic bottle, milk jug or an approved sharps container.
Thanks to funding and support from the Product Stewardship Institute, this expanded service provides a much-needed opportunity for residents to safely dispose of sharps, something previously unavailable in the area.
Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this free, safe, and easy way to dispose of unused or expired medications and medical sharps. Proper disposal helps reduce the risk of misuse, accidental exposure, and environmental contamination, promoting a healthier Okmulgee County.
This free, anonymous take-back event is made possible through the collaboration of several dedicated partners, including: • OSU Community Wellness Programs
• OSUIT Campus Police • Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs
• Product Stewardship Institute (PSI)
• OSU Institute of Technology
• Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
