Okmulgee County Commissioner and Lion Erik Zoellner presented the program last week. It was kind of spur of the moment, but he gave us an interesting and informative program.
Zoellner started with what he called “pigeon stories.” He talked about his and his brother’s fascination with birds, i.e. pigeons.
At an early age, Zoellner developed Pigeonism – which he said made him hooked on birds. He races pigeons and takes them with him to speak at schools and other functions.
Zoellner elaborated on judging the pigeons based on distance and speed amongst other factors. He and his brother love racing and breeding pigeons and he gave his brother credit for being able to pick out the best pigeon to race. He also promised he would bring the pigeons sometime to a Lions Club meeting to which we are looking forward to.
Thank you, Lion Erik, for sharing your passion!
